A Ducks Hat

So I am working on a hat that someone is going to buy from me - or rather a beanie. Is $10 underpriced for a hand made beanie? Here's how it looks so far:

It's the Oregon Ducks colors, as requested.

Also, can it be finished and still look good if I don't have double ended needles? If not, I am sure I can get some, but if so - what's the best way to finish it when I get that far?

A Couple Scarves

So, I figured to start myself off on this knitting blog adventure, I would post a couple pictures.

First of all, my most recently finished project:

This scarf is a big sheet of fleece that I just cut into a long strip (or rather, my mom cut for me...) and rolled it into a ball. It knit up pretty quickly, since it was so thick and I used big needles. Obviously I added the fringe as well. Only problem is it's so dang thick, it doesn't leave much flexibility for "draping" around your neck or wrapping it, but rather just for laying over your shoulders. Nice part? It's SO warm, and makes a good pillow when folded up on the desk in your cubicle at work... heh.

Next, one of my current projects:

First time knitting something a little more difficult than just one color scarf. The switching of colors is my first step off the stoop of plain and basic. Don't get me wrong, I like basic sometimes, but I have this insane goal to actually learn NEW things instead of just knitting what I know (which is cast on, knit, purl, bind)... So not bad for my first step out there.

And I don't have a picture yet, but I just got circular needles yesterday and am going to attempt a blanket... We'll see how that goes.

A knitting blog!

Yay! I've seen a few around on the web (found a webring for them and almost peed my pants of excitement), and now I've decided to create a knitting blog of my own. I haven't been knitting for long, and I am far from very experienced. I know how to knit, purl, and switch colors... I think I know how to decrease, but I haven't done so yet - and I've no clue how to increase. Haha. I learned how to do cables, but I haven't really utilized that yet, and so far all I've knitted by hand has been 2 scarves and a purse (that was going to be a scarf, but was turned into a purse when I got impatient and wanted to just finish it off) and I am now working on another scarf.

My plan is to progressively get better (the plan I am sure we all have as beginners) and also post what progress I am able to make on this blog. Once I've done a few things, I think I may join a webring for it and expand my network of knitters, but until then - I will probably stay pretty private... Unless of course someone stumbles across my humble blog and decides to keep an eye on me of course.

Thanks to anyone who reads this - watch for upcoming posts with pictures and of course lots of questions from me on how to do this or that. Haha, until then - Ciao!
